Advertising in the English Premier League

The power of football advertising is demonstrated by the fact the English Premier League is broadcast in over 200 territories and is reaching over 600 million homes around the globe, the English Premier League is the most popular and best supported league in the world.Within the UK 56% of male adults and nearly two thirds (65%) of Male 18-34 ABC1 are part of the football nation.
The popularity of football ensures BSKYB pay in excess of £4.3m per game for the rights to televise English Premier League football whilst the BBC spend over £240m to show highlights packages on Match of the Day.
Domestic TV rights expenditure is now nearly £2bn for three seasons with BSKYB, ESPN and the BBC ensuring some 100,000 hours of Premier League football is shown every season on UK TV.
International TV rights are expected to generate over £1bn for the same three seasons. The Asian markets continue to account for a large proportion of this whilst China has been guaranteed at least one live match on terrestrial TV to Ensure the Premier League’s presence in the world’s largest market place is expanded.
The English Premier League is now a global media platform for sponsors and advertisers alike to broadcast their commercial messages to the world.
